Augustine, (potential) errands and data engineering
Hopefully today is boring
Hopefully today is boring.
6:45 - Friday mornings I meet with my friends from church, most of which actually go to different churches now. We are thinkers who strive to love God with our minds and so this group has taken a tenor of a book club. We are currently going through Augustine’s Confessions. (Really, we are returning to “Uncle Gus” after taking a break to read some of Michael Licona recently.) Today we were in Book VII and takls about the problem of evil (or as one of us put it, “the problem of good”).
It’s always so great to talk with folks about the Lord, but even thought its a highlight of the week, I wish this were the Rule and not the Exception.
My car has a flat tire, so I had to borrow one of the family vehicles. Hopefully I can get around to getting the flat taken care of later this morning or in the early afternoon. Admittedly, I had a rought night (only about 2-3 hours of sleep) os I’m probably going to lay down for a bit.
2:30 - My nap was a few hours longer than I anticipated so some stuff is going on the backburner. I have two big goals for the rest of the afternoon. First, work on my data engineering project for my portfolio (I’ll need to talk about this later). Second, prep for a late evening Pathfinder session.
5:00 - As I just told a friend, the last 2+ hours I’ve spent with the DE professional development stuff as been spent solely in writing out brainstorming and documenting everything that’s going into actual coding though not any coding itself. It’s frustrating. I’m making a lot of progress, I think, but I have to constantly wrestle away the voices (not literal voices) telling me this is a waste of time and pointing me to look at the flashy, awesome lives of my friends in jealously and envy.
I’m working so hard to prove myself to myself.
11:00 - I’m just about to finish updating this page, and then to think about if I will go to bed, or stay up to work on some game development stuff for a meeting tomorrow. Since I missed a meeting on Thursday, I should stay up and work double so I have something to show for it.
